Total Lunar Eclipse in Virgo – During this event, the Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon, casting it’s dark inner shadow (the Umbra) over the lunar surface. Duration of Totality (how long this lasts) is about 58 minutes – the moon will turn a deep coppery red.
Visibility – you will be able to see this from the Pacific Ocean, East Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
For viewing from The Americas – this will be visibile in pre-dawn hours, the moon will set while still eclipsed.
In India, this will be partially visible during moonrise (early evening), coinciding with the festival of Holi.
Why does the blood moon appear red? This is caused by Rayleigh scattering – the same phenomenon that makes sunsets red. Earth’s atmosphere filters out blue light and bends the remaining red light toward the moon.
Astrological significance – Key Themes:
Release & Detox – this is a South Node eclipse which traditionally represents “letting go” since it’s in Virgo, the focus is on releasing perfectionistm, overthinking, and cluttered habits.
Spiritual Cleansing – Occuring alongside Holi and the Full Worm Moon, it is seen as a time for “Cosmic Spring Cleaning” – purifying your physical space and your mental well being.
The Pivot – While Virgo focuses on details and control, the opposite sign, Pisces, calls for surrender. This eclipse asks you to find the balance between “fixing” everything and trusting the process.
Mutable signs will feel this moste intensely:
Virgo – a powerful moment for personal identity shifts and shedding self-criticism.
Pisces – focus on relationships and grounding spiritual ideas into reality
Gemini & Sagittarius – Likely to experience shifts in career direction or home life.
Day – Tuesday lends its energies to efforts of a physical nature like getting in shape or increasing physical endurance.
Zodiac – The moon in Virgo lends energies to efforts around employment, intellectual matters, health and dietary concerns.
Moon – Our moon goes FULL today at 6:37am Eastern Time, which lends energies to increasing intuition, boosting rituals and spellwork, and increasing your concentration.
So today – Tuesday and Virgo are both pointing towards your health and dietary concerns. Use Today’s Full Moon energy to amplify your efforts in those areas.
