In the 2024 Llewellyn Witches’ Datebook, Melissa Tipton shares how she uses her journaling of common mental patterns to help her notice any themes that may indicate ancestral trauma that needs to be healed.
“When you do notice a theme, ask yourself if you’ve witnessed this before in your family, weather through direct observation or through stories about your relatives and ancestors”
She suggests that, “…as witches, we’re in a powerful position to use our magic to heal ancestral trauma and interrupt patterns that no longer serve us.”
She shares: “a friend once learned from a spirit guide that when we work to heal something in our family line, this is like shining an energetic flashlight on the area, making it easier for everyone, living and passed, to heal this issue if they so choose.”
It’s like in the end of Practical Magic, how Sally and Jillian’s close bond and love for each-other helped not only get rid of that horrible Jimmy Angelov, but also that magical moment where they, combined with the efforts of their aunts, and the small community they called together, reached back in time to heal the broken heart of Maria – the origin of the curse against men who ever fell in love with Owens women.
Even if you don’t journal, maybe making a mental note about a theme you notice, sit and meditate about how far back that pattern goes and whether it’s even your pattern to start with. Then you can think on how you’d like to change that pattern from something holding you back, and turn it into a better, healthier pattern that will help support your growth.
Have a blessed day! 🥰
