What is Candle Magic?
Using candles to represent any number of things – from your desire to attain a goal, to something you no longer want, to shining the light of understanding, to someone you wish to release from your life – it’s such a versatile and effective type of magic.
Three Things To Consider before working any kind of magic…
1) What are you actually trying to manifest? Be as specific as possible.
2) Be 100% sure that you want to do the magic. There’s no such thing as a reversal spell. Once it’s done, you can’t take it back. Don’t do magick when angry, scared or unsure.
3) What is the best time to do the spell? Moon phase, time of year, time of day, day of the week, what zodiac the moon is in – these factors may help boost your spell but if you need to do something it’s not required to wait.

Be realistic. There are some things that not even magic can make happen.
This is advice I gained during my Year-And-A-Day class. I can still see the serious look on Morgan’s face as she warned us. Her guidance and Alison’s during that course is what built the foundations I have – upon which I built my own solitary path. And these are the foundations I share with you now, with my experience and learnings included.
Once you have addressed those three things, here’s how you move forward.
1) Select your candle – you can choose a candle that is color associated with your intent. See the color association chart in this course’s PDF.
2) Carve your intention into the candle
3) Anoint your candle with the oil(s) of your choice
-anoint from wick to base to increase, manifest or draw something to you
-anoint from base to wick to decrease, banish or release something
4) Charge your candle with energy
5) Surround your candle with an herb mixture blended to support your intent
6) Place power stones/crystals around your candle (cleansed and charged works best – you should cleanse and charge your stones between workings unless you want them to retain that specific spell’s energy)
7) Light the candle and focus on your intent (I like to gaze into the flame while visualizing what things look/feel like after my intention has come to fruition – like it’s already happened)
8) Let the candle burn all the way down/out. Do not extinguish it unless this is a multi-day long-term spell (more advanced) and NEVER EVER blow a candle out (There is one caveat to this: if you are banishing/releasing something and the candle is almost gone you can use the power of your breath as the final push to the banish/releasing energies.) Use a snuffer, or your fingers to extinguish the flames.
Using Herbs to Dress your Candles
After you anoint your candle with oils, you can roll the candle in your herb blend.

If you’re using a thicker pillar candle, you can carve out some of the bottoms of the candle around the wick – and fill it with your herb blend.
Make Your Own Candles
If you’re creative and resourceful you can make your own candles with specific oil and herb blends for specific kinds of spells. This can be fun and also messy.

Pay attention to the flame
The way the flame behaves will tell you a lot. Check out the PDF for some amazing resources I found recently on Pinterest. Here’s where you can find the original pin. https://pin.it/1Y13euH

This is a neutral, plain candle you keep burning near by as a reference to compare your spell candle to.
